Third-generation ball · revived for 2025

30,000+ LEDs.
ONE BIG MOMENT.

In 1998, the Kokomo Downtown Association asked Team 45 to create a New York City-style ball for New Year’s Eve. The second-generation ball, built in 2005, used 240 independently controlled triangular panels and more than 30,000 LEDs. In 2025, TechnoKats proudly brought a third-generation ball back to downtown, dazzling the crowd with 45 dynamic light patterns.

THE COUNTDOWN

A giant lever first signaled the ball to light up; today the tradition keeps evolving. A digital countdown clock joined the celebration in 2008.
